About Us
Felting is an ancient craft which is just as useful and relevant today as it was 3000 years ago and in more recent, less industrialised times. Wherever there are sheep and wool, societies have made felt. The craft of felting is an inexpensive yet versatile and exceptionally creative activity.
The Canberra Region Feltmakers (CRF) was originally formed by a small group of people with similar interests. CRF is a very active group with now over 130 members from Canberra and the surrounding region. Members receive a monthly newsletter by email containing information about CRF activities and photos of members' work.
CRF maintains close links with many similar groups throughout Australia and overseas to share ideas and encourage cross-fertilisation. We are part of an international network of textile artist groups.
Our members are skilled craftspeople. Look through the amazingly varied work displayed in our online gallery Their work can also be seen at the annual exhibition which provides members with the opportunity to showcase their work to the public.

Meetings
CRF holds monthly meetings (except December) at the Lions Youth Haven, Kambah Pool Road, Kambah ACT to enable members to work on joint projects and share experiences. Meetings typically include an activity related to feltmaking, a short formal meeting and then a visit to the CRF shop and library all in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Workshops
CRF holds workshops for beginners as well as for our more experienced felters. These are a great way to build skills and share knowledge about felting. Our workshops use the talents of locally-based felters and visiting artisans from many other localities and countries.
CRF Shop and Library
CRF runs its own shop as part of the meeting each month to give members access to equipment and materials at very competitive rates. It also has a library of useful and inspirational materials for members to borrow.

Membership
CRF welcomes new members. Membership offers a number of benefits including newsletters, participation in meetings and the annual exhibition, discounts on workshop fees and access to the CRF shop and library.
